Congratulations Mikael Rydén, who has been granted an extension as a Wallenberg Clinical Scholar. The extension entails SEK 3 million per year for five years.

Mikael Rydén at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge (MedH) was accepted as a Wallenberg Clinical Scholar in 2020. He has now been granted a five-year extension, which means an additional SEK 15 million for his research on obesity-related diseases.

Together with Niklas Mejhert, Mikael leads a research group that studies how white adipose tissue is affected in common diseases such as obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, blood lipid disorders and cardiovascular disease.

When Mikael Rydén was accepted as one of the Wallenberg Clinical Scholars in 2020, the Foundation published an article (in Swedish) about his research.
